Mark Broatch has done a thoughtful deep-dive on a question many of us authors ask: Why aren’t we seeing more Kiwi books on the big screen? Including intel from several industry hard-hitters, it pieces together why we’re not (budgets, population) and why we should (brilliant storytellers in Aotearoa, opportunity for export etc.).
I was thrilled to see Golden Days on the Rich Pickings List recommending it as a having great film potential!
Also wonderful to see some of my clever colleagues’ work on there too, particularly Eleanor Catton, Kate De Goldi, Catherine Chidgey, Patrica Grace, Kirsten McKenzie, Steph Matuku, Barbara Sumnber, Charlotte Lobb and Eileen Merriman.
